The HBO documentary Breath of Fire reminded me of an unsolved musical mystery. Twenty years ago ALP remixed two tracks from Laura Burhenn’s 2004 release “Wanderlust”. Laura liked the remixes and gave me permission to add them as bonus tracks on my CD Pursuit of Happiness, but then I received an email from her a few years later saying she did not want to be a pain but she saw the remixes on itunes and could I take them down. The source material mysteriously disappeared from the internet as well. Wanderlust was a beautiful, critically acclaimed masterpiece and I have always been curious what happened.

Remixed by Larry Poulton!

It has been a decade since the release of “Strings” which is my favorite ALP project. I had feared that I would not be able to work on music after I quit drinking, but much to my surprise the material wrote itself, and conveyed a dark mood that was in stark contrast to my pink cloud.
